HEAL Surgical Skills Program

Hands-On Experimental Advanced Learning

HEAL is SIG's practical skills series. More than 10 recorded workshops have covered suturing, casting, bowel anastomosis, robotic surgery, neurosurgery and laparoscopic skills, with qualified instructors leading each session in an appropriate training setting.

Research Program

SURE Research Program

SURE connects students with surgeons and researchers for supervised work on surgical research projects. SIG's approved portfolio records more than 120 ongoing projects and more than 200 student participants in the program.

SIG Journal Clubs

Each SIG Journal Club brings four to five student presenters together with expert mentors to examine surgical literature. Eight documented sessions over two years have covered Breast & Endocrine, Pediatric, Vascular, Cardiac, General, Thoracic and Surgical Oncology topics.

SurgInsights uses clinical cases to discuss surgical conditions, assessment and decision-making. Students lead the session, while invited specialists add practical context and draw out the main learning points.
